Degree & Profession© - Florence World Festival 2009
From the 24th to the 27th of November 2009 took place in Florence the
sixth edition of “Degree & Profession© – Florence World Festival”, an
international meeting point for students, graduates, companies,
professionals and universities, this year regarding creativity and its
context. The disciplines involved were: architecture, urban planning, civil
engineering, cultural heritage, conservation, restoration, design, fashion,
visual arts and tourism.
The numbers of the Festival: 377 Participants, 21 Represented countries,
103 Exhibited Degree projects. 1019 Degree projects in the database on the website,
43 Professionals and experts bringing their experiences, 34 Testimonials, conferences and workshops, 49 Represented universities, 47 Patrons and collaborating companies and institutions.
The awards
An international committee of experts assessed the degree projects enrolled in the competition connected to the Festival, awarding the following prizes:
Life Beyond Tourism ® Award – 4000€ to
Sophie Gogoladze, Tbilisi State Academy of Art (Georgia), for
the project ,,Garden in the sky,,.
Medal of the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano to
Olga Akimenko, Moscow Architectural Institute (Russia), for the
project Revitalization of industrial areas .
Nataliya Vasychkina, Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts (Ukraine), for the project Classroom of the future - The conception of developement space.
Sophico Antidze, Tbilisi State Academy of Art (Georgia),
for the project ,,Imaginative world of Johnny Baby,,.
The acknowledgements:
Two new important awards have been given to the Foundation, in the hands of the President Paolo Del Bianco,
during the closing ceremony of the Festival:
Diploma of Honorary Doctor of the Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University of Baku
(Azerbaijan), delivered by the Rector, professor Gulchohra Mammadova
Medal of the Mackenzie Presbyterian University, São Paulo (Brazil), delivered by professor Valter Caldana.
News from the Florence World Festival 2009
In 2009 the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation promoted, with the support of the
local institutions, the first three editions of “Degree & Profession© – Regional
Festival” in Baku (Azerbaijan), Odessa (Ukraine), and Ivanovo (Russia). The
Regional Festivals are meant to enhance the socio-cultural specificities of the
hosting place.
Stimulated by their success, during the closing of the Florence Festival the following cities and institutions proposed themselves to host the festivals in 2010 and 2011:

University Delegates – New opportunities for young graduates and students
The Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation, starting from 2009, is offering
the opportunity to young graduates and students to participate for one
month in Florence to a program realized to disseminate the concept of
“Life Beyond Tourism® - For Intercultural Dialogue”
(www.lifebeyondtourism.com).
The program, that in 2010 expects the participation of up to 80
delegates, is oriented to the promotion of the portal and the photo-
blogs of “Life Beyond Tourism®” to foster the enlargement of its
“community” and to make the young generations aware of regarding
topics of international interest such us the intercultural dialogue, the
enhancement of traditional knowledge and preservation of heritage,
therefore contributing to the development of a ‘tourism based on
values, not only on consumer services’.
